How far is Anthony’s Key Resort from Roatan Airport?
The drive to Anthony’s Key Resort is approximately 15 minutes from Roatan Airport.
What documents do I need to travel to Roatan?
A valid passport is all that is required for US/Canadian citizens. Check with your travel agent or Honduras consulate if a VISA is needed for other nationalities. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 MONTHS beyond your return travel date. Please visit the Honduras Entry Requirements page for the latest requirements.
Should I get any vaccinations before my trip?
While we have no issues that necessitate recommended vaccinations, you should always consult your doctor before traveling.
Do you offer airport transportation?
Yes, our packages included round-trip transfers to and from the Roatan International Airport.
How do I get around Roatan? Should I rent a car?
If you wish to explore the island on your own, there are several car rentals, with most agencies located near the Roatan Airport. Taxis are also readily available should you desire to leave the property.
What to wear in Roatan?
Pack lightweight, comfortable clothing. Casual clothing is acceptable throughout the resort and around the island of Roatan. We recommend a long-sleeved shirt and long pants for horseback riding, hats, and sunscreen for sun protection. We also recommend a dive watch for personal use. What else should I pack when traveling to Roatan?
Aspirin, antihistamine, Immodium, anti-itch creams, and any other treatments your physician may prescribe or recommend for foreign travel. We recommend that you wear insect repellent outdoors; we offer several options at the resort, or you should pack your preferred kind. Also, in our effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic waste on the island, we encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle to use during your stay. We also have stainless steel souvenir water bottles for sale at the resort.
Should I bring a beach towel to the resort?
We provide beach towels at the pool and in your bungalow.
Roatan Weather
What is the weather like in Roatan?
The average temperature is around 85˚ Fahrenheit with a tropical climate. Please feel free to check our current weather conditions.
When is the rainy season in Roatan?
The rainy season is typically from October to February.
What is the water temperature in Roatan?
The water temperature ranges from 79˚ in January to 86˚ in June. Then, at the end of October, it drops from 86˚ to 79˚ at the end of December.
Roatan Diving
What is underwater visibility like in Roatan?
The visibility usually is around 70-80 feet.
How does the north side compare with the south for diving in Roatan?
The north shore has more fish life because it is in the only marine park. The reefs are excellent on both sides of the island.
Resort Accommodations
Do I need a converter for the wall sockets?
Our wall sockets use the North American standard layout and voltage of 110 volts.
Do the bungalows at Anthony’s Key Resort have hairdryers?
Yes, all of our bungalows at Anthony’s Key Resort have a hairdryer.
Do the bungalows have refrigerators?
The Deluxe and Superior bungalows have refrigerators. A small ice cooler is in all bungalows.
Do the bungalows have coffee makers?
Yes, all of our bungalows have coffee makers in them.
Do the bungalows have TV or telephones?
Anthony’s Key Resort is the perfect respite from the usual hectic pace of life back home. There are no TVs or phones in our bungalows. While here in your private haven, you can turn off your cell phone and put away the computer to immerse yourself in the reality of your vacation in paradise without digital distractions. Telephone service is available through the Front Desk, and live-streaming TVs are located at the Ankor Bar, AKR Pool Bar, Dockside Lounge, and the Frangipani Bar.
Do the bungalows have safes?
Safes are provided in all our bungalows to store your valuables. The safes measure 6″ x 20″ x 20″, which can accommodate most electronic devices and other valuables. The safes require a four-digit numerical code, which the user programs.
How easy is it to get around Anthony’s Key Resort grounds?
Anthony’s Key Resort welcomes all guests; however, individuals with mobility difficulties may find our property challenging to navigate. The resort’s structural layout includes stairways and uneven terrain that are not conducive to the use of wheelchairs or scooters. However, the hotel management endeavors to assist the needs of guests with limited mobility where it is practically possible.
Resort Services
I’m traveling with a baby. Is there a babysitting service? How much does it cost?
The Front Desk can contact a local babysitter, and you’ll be able to arrange times and payment terms.
Does Anthony’s Key Resort have a playground for children?
We do not have a playground; however, during the summer months, we offer the unique Dolphin Summer Scuba Camp, which provides a wide range of activities for children ages 6-12.
Can I bring my pet to Anthony’s Key Resort?
We do not allow pets at the resort.
What credit cards do you accept?
American Express, VISA, and Master Card credit cards.
What currency is accepted in Roatan?
The currency in Roatan is the Honduran Lempira; however, the US Dollar is widely accepted throughout the island of Roatan and at Anthony’s Key Resort.
What are the check-in and check-out times at Anthony’s Key Resort?
The check-in time is 3:00 PM, and the check-out time is 11:00 AM
Your bungalow must be vacated no later than 11:00 AM on departure day. You’ll need to check out at the Front Desk the day before for early morning departures.
When does your Front Desk open and close?
Our Front Desk opens at 6:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM.
How can I change or update a reservation?
Please contact your agent if you need to update your reservation at AKR.
What should I do in advance to plan my vacation activities?
Complete your Dive Activity and Release Waiver before you arrive. You can book dolphin activities in advance through our online reservations system.
Is there laundry service available, and how much does it cost?
Laundry service is available through a third party. It is picked up each morning at the AKR Snack Shop before 10:00 AM and returned in the afternoon after 2:00 PM. It costs $7 for a small load and $14 for a large load. (Prices are subject to change.)
What should I know about gratuities?
Gratuities are not included in our rates. Please see our Tipping Guidelines for suggestions.
Connectivity
Will I be able to connect to the internet while at Anthony’s Key Resort?
Yes, you will. We’re sure you’ll want to connect to your favorite social site to share photos or videos while here. Free WiFi is available throughout the property, and a desktop computer with internet connectivity is available in the lobby. Upon check-in, you will receive login information and a password for your bungalow’s network.
Can I use my cell phone to call home?
Some US carriers have roaming services in Honduras. Please check with your provider to confirm. In Roatan, we frequently use WhatsApp for making free international calls and instant messaging. You and the person you’re trying to reach will need the application installed on your smartphone.
Food and Drinks
Can I drink the water at Anthony’s Key Resort?
The drinking water at Anthony’s Key Resort is treated and safe for consumption. We encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle to refill during your stay. We also have reusable water bottles for sale at Seaside Gifts & Photos.
Are the meals included at the resort?
All resort packages include three meals daily. Click here for more information on resort dining. The AKR Snack Shop is open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
What if I’m gluten intolerant, vegetarian, or vegan? With an inclusive package, will you cater to my diet?
Our chefs can accommodate most diets, including Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, and other food-related allergies. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions before you arrive.
Are the drinks included?
For breakfast, we include coffee, milk, and juices. Purified water fountains are available throughout the property to refill your reusable water bottle. You’ll have to purchase all other beverages: sodas, beer, wine, and alcohol.
Can I bring my alcohol?
Only alcohol purchased on the property is allowed in our venues. We’ll make an exception for champagne or wine upon request. Bottles must be opened and poured tableside; a $20 corkage fee per bottle will apply.
What is the drinking age at Anthony’s Key Resort?
You must be 21 years old to drink at Anthony’s Key Resort.
What is the nightlife like at Anthony’s Key Resort?
Happy Hours and live music are held on Monday and Friday nights, and our weekly Island Fiesta is held at Anthony’s Key on Wednesday nights.
Around Roatan
Are there church services in Roatan?
Yes, most denominations are established on the island of Roatan and hold weekly services. Our Front Desk can provide you with further details upon arrival, or you can write to find out here.
Are there bike trails or jogging trails in Roatan?
No, there are no bike or jogging trails in Roatan.
Should I be concerned about biting insects?
As with most places in the tropics, we recommend insect repellent. Several options are available in the Snack Shop for purchase.
Roatan Travel Planning
- Please check with your airline before departure for the latest recommended arrival times and security guidelines.
- You’re advised to have a government-issued picture ID available at all times, as well as a printed itinerary if you’re using an electronic ticket.
- U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport. Please ensure your passport does not expire for at least 6 MONTHS beyond your return travel date. Residents of all other countries should check with the Honduran Embassy/Consulate before leaving for specific entry requirements. - Please make sure your personal information is on all luggage and inside it. If you borrow bags, please be sure to use your identification, not the name of the person from whom you borrowed them.
- Unfortunately, the airlines do not always deliver your baggage on time. We will do as much as they can to accommodate you with Scuba equipment and other items, but you should pack a change of clothes, toiletries, medication, contact lenses, prescription masks, etc., in your carry-on luggage.
- We also recommend that you purchase Travel Insurance. Please ask your travel advisor for more information.
