Dolphin Encounter

Duration: 30 minutes
Ages: 3+
- Meet a dolphin face-to-face in this gentle, waist-deep introduction.
- Wade into the clear Caribbean waters and enjoy a close interaction with one of our friendly Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins. You’ll learn about dolphin behavior from our expert trainers while sharing a kiss, a handshake, and a moment you’ll never forget.
- Perfect for: First-time dolphin visitors, families with young children, and anyone seeking a relaxed and educational encounter.
Details:
- Participants must be 3 years or older.
- Ages 3–13 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Children under 3 years of age may participate free of charge while being held by a paying adult.
- Personal cameras are permitted during the encounter.
- Professional photos will be available for purchase at the gift shop.
- Pregnant women are not permitted to participate.
- Total time spent with the dolphins is approximately 30 minutes.
Dolphin Swim & Snorkel

Duration: 60 minutes
Ages: 8+
- Swim, snorkel, and interact freely with dolphins in their natural lagoon.
- This unique, unstructured experience lets dolphins approach you on their own terms. After a guided introduction, you’ll explore the lagoon alongside a pod of curious Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins in a relaxed, open-water setting.
- Perfect for: Confident swimmers and snorkelers looking for an immersive, natural interaction with dolphins.
Details:
- Participants must be 8 years or older.
- Ages 8–13 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Participants must have prior snorkeling experience and be familiar with the use of a mask, fins, and snorkel.
- Cameras or videos are not permitted in the water.
- Professional photos will be available for purchase at the gift shop.
- Pregnant women are not permitted to participate.
- Total time spent with the dolphins is approximately 60 minutes.
Dolphin Action Swim

Duration: 45 minutes
Ages: 5+
- Hold on tight—this is our most exciting dolphin experience!
- Start with a playful introduction, then dive into action with a thrilling “Footpush” across the water and a “Dorsal Ride” around the lagoon. All interactions take place in the open sea-lagoon, where dolphins swim freely in their natural habitat.
- Perfect for: Adventurous guests and families ready for an active, unforgettable swim with dolphins.

- Participants must be 5 years or older.
- Ages 5–13 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Participants must be able to swim.
- Life jackets are provided and must be worn while in the water.
- Personal cameras are permitted during the platform session only.
- Cameras or videos are not permitted in the water.

- Total time spent with the dolphins is approximately 45 minutes.
Dolphin Trainer for a Day

Go Behind the Scenes Dolphin Training Sessions!
This unique program allows participants to spend the entire day with the training staff at the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences. Go “behind the scenes” and learn about their daily care, food preparation, dolphin anatomy, and training techniques. You’ll also have the chance to work one-on-one with the dolphins and initiate trained behaviors in and out of the water.
Dolphin Specialty Course

Study Roatan Dolphins & Learn Dolphin Training Techniques!
Guests who would enjoy a more in-depth study of bottlenose dolphins can attend the two-day Dolphin Specialty Course offered by the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences. This course combines classroom sessions with hands-on interaction. Participants will study the physiology and behavior of dolphins and discuss conservation issues that affect their future.
