The Best Ways to go Sightseeing on Roatan Island
On the Water
If you’re looking for some gentle exercise, consider heading out to the calm waters of the resort’s lagoon. We include the use of kayaks and paddleboards in all of our packages, and they are available to guests during daylight hours. If you need a brief tutorial on how to use the equipment, our dive shop staff will be happy to assist.
Under the Water
Without a doubt, diving and snorkeling are two of our guests’ favorite things to do in Roatan. That’s part of the reason why we’ve been ranked as one of the world’s top dive resorts for almost 50 years! Our program is suitable for guests of all experience levels. If you’re planning on spending your days under the water, you’ll want to book our daily dive package. It includes three dives per day plus all the necessary equipment you’ll need to stay safe.
On the Island
Of course, one of the easiest ways to sightsee on Roatan Island is to stroll along the sand! You’ll find plenty of great walkable areas on the resort. For a different kind of experience, you can book one of our horseback riding excursions. Our most relaxing rides takes visitors across a stretch of shoreline in the quiet town of Sandy Bay. This excursion is appropriate for both experienced and first-time riders.
You can also explore the rainforest of Roatan with our Canopy Tour! Soar above the treetops on a zip line. This exhilarating ride is the perfect way to see the flora and fauna that exist on the island.
On the Mainland
Finally, if you’d like to take a day trip to sightsee on the mainland, then book a trip to San Pedro Sula City! During this tour, you’ll head to Guamilito Market. This area is one of the best places to get souvenirs, like rum, cigars, coffee, or handmade goods. After you’ve finished browsing, you’ll go to a nearby cafe for a delicious lunch. After, you’ll get to see a banana plantation and visit the Imapro Mahogany Factory. The tour lasts about three to four hours. You can also book the ride to Hacienda San Lucas. During the trip, you’ll be led by a bilingual guide to farmland, where you can see the many wild birds who live in the area and tour a farm in town.
