Roatan Is Open!

Roatan Is Open for Travel

Here’s What You Need to Know

Roatan is now open for visitors after Honduras officially reopened its airports for international flights on August 17th, 2020. The country’s borders were closed on March 15th, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Roatan resorts have looked forward to welcoming visitors back after being shut down for over five months. At Anthony’s Key Resort, we are delighted to hear the laughter of our guests once again around the property since we reopened on September 5th, 2020.

Now that Roatan is open for travel, here’s what you need to know before planning your next trip!

COVID-19 Testing is Required to Enter Honduras

All travelers entering Honduras must present a negative PCR or Rapid Test for COVID-19, that was performed within 72 hours of arrival. Airlines will request the negative COVID-19 test at check-in in your departure city, and you will be required to present the test to immigration upon arrival in Roatan. If you plan to travel to Roatan soon, be sure to locate a testing center that can perform the test and provide the results within 72 hours of your travel date. Here is a testing center location finder that may be helpful.

Tip: While not technically required for entry, we recommend a travel health insurance that covers COVID-19.

Online Honduras Immigration Pre-Check

You will need to fill out the Pre-Arrival Immigration Form 48 hours before your date of entry. See the Honduras Entry Requirements details and instructions for completing the immigration form.

Countries That Are Allowed to Enter Honduras

Honduras does not have a travel ban on any nation. The USA, Canada, and the UK are among 84 countries with no visa requirements for Honduras. As always, non-Honduran citizens and Honduran citizens entering from a foreign country will be required to present a passport with at least six months’ validity beyond return travel dates. If you reside in or are traveling en route from South America to Honduras, you will be required to show proof of the Yellow Fever Vaccination as well.

Safety Protocols

Roatan resorts, hotels, and restaurants are now open with biosafety requirements established by the Honduran Ministry of Health. Visitors are asked to know and follow the security protocols, which include:

  • Maintaining 6 feet of distance from people not in your party.
  • Face masks are required when in common areas or have interaction with people not in your party.
  • Frequent washing and disinfecting of hands.
  • Allowing temperature checks and footwear disinfection before entering areas that require it.
  • Reporting any COVID-19 symptoms immediately to authorities or hotel personnel.
  • Staying isolated in the area designated by your hotel should any COVID-19 symptoms arise during your stay.
