Share Your AKR Story: David Wolbrecht

Our latest addition to the “Share Your AKR Story” blog series comes from David Wolbrecht! David’s wife, Caroline, has been an avid diver for many years though he was nervous about trying it. That’s why we’re so flattered that the first place he tried diving was at Anthony’s Key Resort! Read on to learn more about David and Caroline’s first trip to AKR, and how their first trip turned into the start of a tradition in their family.

I met my beautiful wife Caroline in Orlando, Florida, while I was stationed there attending the Naval Nuclear School. She was a diver and I was not and she would beam every time she would talk about it. We were married 6 months after we met and we had our first of 3 daughters Haley 12 months later. She hung her fins up to raise 3 amazing girls into women. When the last of the 3 graduated High School and started college we decided to pick up diving, and while I was not excited about jumping off a boat into the ocean, I felt we had a sport and hobby we could both do together and enjoy. In 2017, she researched every possible destination that we could afford and that May we decided that we would give the tiny island of Roatan, Honduras a shot and chose Anthony’s Key Resort as our destination. We could never imagine the level of beauty of the island and more importantly the people. From the time we stepped off the plane and was greeted by Gregory’s smiling face to the last dive we did with Nico and Captain Will; we were floored with the level of service and care the staff showed us. We are just coming home from our second trip there and again it was an amazing adventure that flew by quickly. Our hearts now live in Anthony’s Key and will always be our home resort. Bravo!
